For Patsy, the motivation to paint living things is just that: to caputre "essence" in a way that pushes the limits of two-dimensional work to portray subjects with such exceptional dimensionality and vitality they appear as if they might emerge from the frame at any moment, in a way that compels the viewer to reach out and touch the fur, feathers, or the skin of a subject.
